Bernadette Mergaerts is a photographer/geographer who successively worked at Apple Computer, at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and as the personal photographer and chief of protocol of Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo.
She is based in Brussels but works most the time in Greece, Spain, France and Germany.
Bernadette combines her artistic activities as a visual artist with commissioned projects . She also worked in higher education. She is a 'walker' and avoids using cars.
Bernadette has organised exhibitions of her work in Brussels, Paris, Corfu, Palma de Mallorca, Paxos, Roubaix, Montreuil and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw.
She was part of an off group exhibition in Rencontres d'Arles in 2019.
She loves to create in close collaboration with writers, musicians and dancers. Her work has been printed in limited editions on Art Paper, Dibond, Metal, Plexi, Light Boxes and recently on Silk and recycled textiles.
